Delete your account

In the app — the fastest way

Open Your account from the top of the home screen, scroll to Delete my account, and follow the confirmation. You will be asked to type a word to confirm, and if you have not signed in recently you will be asked to sign in again first — that check exists because this game gets played with phones left on tables.

This works the same way on the iPhone and Android apps and on the web app. Nothing is queued for review: the account is gone when the confirmation finishes.

By email — if you cannot sign in

If you have lost access to your account and cannot reach the button above, email support@bitesites.org from the address the account uses, and say that you want it deleted.

We will ask you for whatever is needed to be confident the account is yours, then delete it and confirm by reply. We aim to do this within 30 daysand in practice it is much sooner. If we cannot establish that the account is yours, we will tell you why rather than delete somebody else's.

What deleting your account does

• Your account, your name, and your stats are deleted. This cannot be undone.
• Notifications stop, and every device you registered is forgotten.
• Messages you sent stay in the games you played, with your name taken off them.
• Games you are still in keep your seat, so the table can finish without you.

The third and fourth lines are the ones people do not expect, so they are worth saying plainly. A game you played is a shared record — your messages stay in it with your name replaced by Former player, because a conversation is not one participant's to erase for everybody else. And a seat in a game that is still running stays in it, because Mafi decides who wins by counting living players, so removing a seat mid-game would silently change the outcome for everyone still at that table.

What is kept, and for how long

Reports filed about you are kept. A safety record its subject can delete is not a safety record, and it is the one thing deletion does not reach. It holds what was reported and by whom, and after deletion it no longer points at an account that exists.

Everything else that identifies you — the sign-in credential, your profile, your stats, your notification devices, and your own block list — is destroyed rather than archived. We do not keep a copy for a waiting period, so there is nothing to restore if you change your mind; deleting and starting again gives you a new account, not your old one back.

Backups are the exception every service has and the honest answer is the same here: deleted data can persist in encrypted operational backups for a short period before they roll over, and it is not restored to the live service. The privacy policy is the fuller account, including the rights you have over your data and how to exercise them.

Deleting the app is not deleting your account

Removing Mafi from your phone stops it running and leaves the account where it is. If you played as a guest and never added an email, the account is only reachable from that install — so use the in-app deletion before you uninstall, or the session is orphaned rather than deleted.
