Agreeing to this

Using Mafi means you accept what is on this page. If you do not, do not use it. Mafi is provided by Bitesites LLC.

You need to be 13 or older to use Mafi, and old enough where you live to agree to terms like these. If you are under 18, an adult responsible for you should read this too.

Your account

You can play as a guest or make an account. Either way, you are responsible for what happens under it, and for keeping a password to yourself if you set one. Tell us at support@bitesites.org if you think somebody else is using it.

What you may not do

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour towards other players. Specifically, do not use Mafi to send, post, or display anything that is:

• Harassing, bullying, or threatening — to anyone, in or out of the game.
• Hateful towards a person or a group because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
• Sexually explicit, or sexual in any way involving a minor.
• Violent, graphic, or intended to frighten rather than to play.
• Somebody else's private information — a real name they did not give, an address, a phone number, a photograph.
• Spam, advertising, a scam, or a link to any of the three.
• Impersonation of another player, of us, or of anybody real.

And do not try to break the game for other people: no cheating that reveals hidden information, no automated clients, no attempts to get at another player’s role, and no interfering with the service itself.

A game about lying is not a licence for any of the above. Deceiving the town about your card is the game. Everything on that list is not.

What we do about it

Every chat message you can report, and every player you can block, from the message itself and from the roster. Reports go to us, and we aim to look at each one within 24 hours.

When something on the list above is reported and we agree with the report, we remove the content, and we may suspend or permanently remove the account behind it — without warning, and at our discretion. We do not owe an explanation to somebody removed for abusing other players, and we will not restore an account because the behaviour was “part of the game”.

Blocking is yours and needs no reason. A blocked player’s messages stop appearing for you, immediately, with nothing said to them about it.

What you write stays yours

You keep whatever you type. You give us permission to store it and show it to the other players in your game, which is the only thing we do with it — see the privacy policy.

The game itself

Everything else — the art, the roles, the writing, the name, and the software — belongs to Bitesites LLC. Play it as much as you like; do not copy it, sell it, or take it apart to make your own.

The boring but necessary part

Mafi is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be available, that a game will never be interrupted, or that the Narrator will always have something to say. To the fullest extent the law allows, Bitesites LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using it, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us — which, in this version, is nothing.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA.

Changes, and ending it

We may change these terms; the date at the top changes when we do, and a change that matters is announced in the app. You can stop using Mafi at any time, and ask us to delete your account by writing to support@bitesites.org.
